In 1990, in Romania a revolution takes place, dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu is executed and the Romanians overturn the communist regime. Communism leaves behind a poor country, with chaotic or even non-existent laws. In many of the poor Roma communities an extreme and shocking phenomenon appears: selling children. It quickly becomes an industry, very profitable for certain networks of brokers who persuade poor parents to sell their children for cash. The children are sold in secret, as a simple merchandise. Then the brokers place the children in families abroad and cash in. Everything happens beyond the law, without the authorities knowing about it.
